Higher Education Ministry Approves New Private Colleges
 

The Ministry of Higher Education in Saudia Arabia has granted licenses for the establishment of 36 new private colleges over the next few years. There are already six private colleges in Jeddah, Riyadh, Abha and Al-Baha. The new colleges will be set up in Riyadh, Jeddah, Tabuk, Hail, Buraidah, Madinah, Qasim, Taif and the Eastern Province.

King Fahd Approves Higher Education Resolutions
 

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz has approved a number of resolutions adopted by the council of higher education. Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari reports that these include overseas scholarships for outstanding Saudi students, and scholarships for excelling students from a number of Muslim countries in specializations like medicine, engineering, and applied sciences in the fields of nursing, hospital management, laboratories, electronics and meteorology. The resolutions also include the setting up of a national commission for academic evaluation and approval; and endorsement for the establishment of two private universities, one for the Riyadh Charitable Foundation for Sciences, and the other for the King Faisal Charitable Foundation.
